5 Common SEO Mistakes on Wix (and How to Fix Them)

Wix appeals for its ease of use and the speed with which you can publish a site online. But this simplicity can also lead to neglecting essential elements of natural SEO. The result: sites that are invisible on Google and struggle to generate qualified traffic.

In this article, I present the most common SEO errors on Wix sites, as well as the concrete solutions that I implement in my support to remedy them permanently.

Avoid or fix the most common mistakes on Wix
Évitez ou corrigez les erreurs les plus fréquentes sur Wix

1. Missing or poorly written Title and Meta Description tags

These tags are essential. They directly influence search rankings and click-through rates. Yet, many Wix sites leave these fields blank or use generic, uninviting wording.

What I recommend:

  • A single, clear Title tag containing the main keyword.

  • A well-written, compelling meta description that summarizes the value of the page.

  • Special attention to home pages, services, and blog posts.

This step is systematically taken care of in my SEO offers, with professional formulations adapted to your audience.

2. Disorganized page structure (headings H1, H2, H3)

Heading hierarchy is essential for Google to understand the logic of your content. Too often, Wix uses multiple H1 headings, or conversely, none at all. This hinders the site's readability by search engines.

What I recommend:

  • Only one H1 per page, formulated around the central subject.

  • H2s to introduce the main parts.

  • H3s to structure subsections.

This organization is integrated into my Wix offerings from the creation of the site, or applied during a redesign.

3. Content too thin or not optimized

Content that's too short or lacking semantic structure can't rank well. Google prioritizes informative pages written around relevant keywords. A simple introductory text is no longer enough.

What I recommend:

  • Write texts of at least 600 to 1000 words for strategic pages.

  • Naturally integrate expressions searched for by your prospects.

  • Regularly create new content (thematic pages, articles).

This editorial optimization work is included in my SEO support.

4. Uncompressed images without alt attributes

An image that's too large slows down loading times. An image without an alt tag doesn't contribute to SEO. Both of these mistakes are common on Wix.

What I recommend:

  • Reduce the size of images before importing (ideally less than 300 KB).

  • Name files with keywords.

  • Add relevant alt text for each image.

This point is part of the technical audit included in my SEO offers and my Wix offers.

5. Lack of netlinking strategy (backlinks)

No matter how well-built a website, it won't be able to rank consistently without inbound links. Netlinking is a pillar of SEO: Google places more trust in a site cited by others.

What I recommend:

  • Acquire backlinks on thematic or professional sites.

  • Avoid low quality link platforms.

  • Integrate links gradually, in line with the editorial strategy.

I offer tailor-made campaigns in my backlink offers for all CMS, regardless of the tool used (Wix, WordPress, Shopify, etc.).
