Among the messages you encounter in the Pages report of Google Search Console , the one “detected – currently not indexed” can seem frustrating.
Google knows about your page, but isn't indexing it. Why is it blocked? Is it temporary? Should you take action or wait?
Here is a clear explanation and actions to consider.

1. What does “detected – currently not indexed” mean?
This status indicates that:
Google found the page , usually via a link or a sitemap,
But he has not yet explored it , nor indexed it,
It is therefore unknown to the search engine in its results .
In other words, the page is waiting in a crawl queue… but there is no guarantee that it will be crawled or indexed.
2. Why does Google detect but not visit a page?
a. Crawl budget problem
Every site has a crawl budget . If your site has a lot of pages or some of them are of low quality, Google may choose not to crawl certain URLs immediately .
b. Frequency of site updates
A site that is inactive and rarely updated sends a signal of low freshness to Google, which can then delay crawling new pages.
c. Faulty structure or sitemap
Errors in the sitemap, poorly structured internal links, or a weak link structure can prevent Google from quickly identifying which pages to crawl first.
d. Slow or unstable server
If your site takes a long time to respond, Google limits the crawl to avoid overloading the server. This can delay the crawling of certain pages.
3. How to check if the page is worth indexing?
Before you take action, ask yourself this simple question: Does this page have real SEO value?
It should ideally:
deal with a useful or sought-after subject,
offer original, well-structured, well-written content,
be connected to the rest of the site via relevant internal links.
If the answer is yes, you can take action. Otherwise, it is best to delete or deindex this page.
4. What concrete actions can be taken to promote indexing?
a. Add internal links pointing to the page
This is often the most effective measure. A link from the homepage, a blog post, or a well-ranked page attracts Google's attention.
b. Update the sitemap
Make sure the URL is present in the sitemap submitted to Search Console.
c. Request indexing manually
In Google Search Console:
click on “URL Inspection”
enter the page address
click on “Request indexing”
This triggers a new exploration attempt.
d. Improve the technical performance of the site
Speed, server stability, response time… Overall improvements make it easier to explore all pages of the site.
5. Customer case: bijouxfabricaisefrancaise.com
Several recently published product pages remained in the “detected – not indexed” state. Actions taken:
improved titles and descriptions,
adding internal links from category and blog pages,
indexing request in Search Console.
Result: the majority of pages were crawled and then indexed within 10 to 15 days.
Conclusion
The message “detected – currently not indexed” does not mean that your page is blocked, but that it is not yet a priority in the eyes of Google . By optimizing the content, the mesh and the overall structure, you greatly increase your chances of seeing it appear in the index.
